Terms of Office: The term of office for elected and appointed members is two years, renewable. Should a member of the Steering Committee or a Working Group coordinator be unable to serve out his/her term, the Steering Committee will appoint a replacement to serve until the next election.

  1. Steering Committee elections for the positions of Chair and Chair/Elect shall take place every two years, the elections being held in May.
  2. Terms of office shall begin immediately after the summer (June or July) meeting of the German Resources Project. The chair appoints a (two-person) Nominating Committee in May of years in which elections are to occur.
  3. The Nominating Committeecalls for nominations, prepares a slate of candidates, and obtains their agreement to serve.  Then it forwards the slate to the Chair in advance of the elections.
  4. The election takes place by e-mail ballots sent out by the Nominating Committee.
  5. Members-at-large are appointed by the Chair with approval from other members of the Steering Committee.   These appointments may be made at any time during the year, but their two-year terms of office normally, but not necessarily, shall begin immediately after the next summer (June or July) meeting of the German Resources Project.

The Working Groups:

Purpose:  The working groups conduct the actual work of the Project.  They decide their own projects and priorities, and conduct their own meetings.  The Steering Committee may submit project ideas to the Working Groups for consideration.  Working Groups are established or discontinued at the discretion of the Steering Committee.

Appointments:

  1. Working Group Coordinators are elected by their respective working groups and are recommended to the Steering Committee.  The appointments are for two years, and are renewable.
  2. Working Group membership is for two years, renewable.  Continuation of membership on the Working Group is at the discretion of the Coordinator.  Members are expected to be active.
